Civic Makers - Climate Change Data Visualisation Project

Online Meetup

Civic Makers is a program run by Code for Australia, that brings people together to say, "how can we make our communities better"? We do this through the lens of civic tech. Essentially, we're looking at engaging in projects involving collaboration between technologists, and anyone with some skills or an idea to solve civic problems

We are a group of people from many different backgrounds (designers, developers, writers, scientists, government folk) and anyone interested in getting involved in civic tech is welcome to join us!

We meet weekly to work on our project.

Using data collected from They Vote For You, we're building a website that tells the story of climate change policy in Australia. We’re telling a story: the beginning is the history/ context; the middle is party's voting records; and the end is a call to action to contact your MP/ share their voting record “score”.

For background info on the program, the project, and the work we’ve done so far, head here to watch a video. -->

Like all Code for Australia events, we are committed to creating safe spaces that everybody feels safe and supported in. We have a Code of Conduct which you can check out here.

If you have any questions or considerations for us to know about your participation in this event, please email Esther ([masked]) and let us know. We want to make these events as inclusive and welcoming as possible for everyone.

While people may be dialling in from all over Australia, Code for Australia is so grateful to be hosting this event on the lands of the Boonwurrung and Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin nation. We wish to pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging, and acknowledge that this beautiful land, which many of us now call home, was never ceded. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.
