Catch up on our regular monthly MSB Pitch Night happens on the first Thursday night of every month. Main feature is the 90 second pitch segment where anyone is encouraged to pitch their idea, startup, app or whatever. This is an excellent way to get used to pitching and get feedback from a bunch of non judgemental peers. While we call it a Pitch Night, it’s more of an Open Mic Night for anyone in the startup community or provide products and/or services to startups.

JUDGES OF THE NIGHT

Johann Nogueira, CEO and Founder of Business Authorities

Johann has spent his entire career solving problems and fixing businesses. He discovered the power of systemization and leverage in his early 20’s, where he built his first ecommerce business. This knowledge allowed him to grow not only his business but his clients as well. One of his latest businesses has reached a valuation of 8 figures in 2.5 years. Johann has significantly increased the bottom lines of over 1,000 clients in more than 40 industries worldwide. He does this with a focus on technology and utilizing the systems he has built over the last two decades.

Lynn Wood, Chief Idea Spy at Idea Spies

Lynn co-founded IdeaSpies, a global idea-sharing platform, in 2016. Its purpose is sharing innovation to inspire action and it now features over 3,000 positive ideas and innovations, explained simply in 100 words or less. Lynn’s interest in innovation started early in her career and Lynn has served on many boards, including as Chair. Notably Lynn was one of the first three women in Australia to be on the board of a listed organisation and one of the first to adopt a portfolio career as a consultant, board member, mentor and entrepreneur.

David Hauser, Lead of Silicon Beach and Founder of THNK Innovation

With a degree in engineering and mechanical design, David did spend over 10 years in the machine tool industry where he served in roles as lead engineer and project manager in the design of complex manufacturing machines for the automotive, aerospace, and medical industries. Thinking outside of the box to solve wicked problems was always a passion of his. The experience that he gained in the creation and implementation of innovative ideas motivated him to start THNK.innovation and most recently the THNK.U-bator startup and business pre-accelerator.

Melbourne Silicon Beach (MSB) is the Melbourne community of Silicon Beach Group Ltd, a “for purpose” company with a mission to “Empower Founders” around Australia and propel us to #2 startup nation in the world by 2025.

We are an informal group for anyone interested in founding or working in startups, dev/design in web/mobile tech, IoT, freelancing, investing or working with people in that space. We are a diverse bunch covering all ages, backgrounds and first point of call for newcomers to the startup community in Melbourne.
