The Role of the ICT Community in the Future Resilience and Self-Reliance of Australia

ICT Enabling a Better Future for All

The Pearcey Conversation - ICT Enabling a Better Future for All

A discussion on resilience and self-reliance is timely given the current pandemic and looming economic crises. Businesses have had a wake-up call about their dependence on fragile supply chains and short term goals. But the positive side has been a cultural shift to make it socially acceptable to do things in new ways like remote-working, tele-health, and adopting new technologies.

ICT and deep-tech is an enabler across all industries including health, agriculture, energy and manufacturing. In particular, machine learning is driving advances in discovery and understanding, in medicine and med-tech, optimization in business processes, environment and in many other areas.

Challenges in being resilient and self-reliant include understanding complex systems, building capabilities, supporting innovation, raising skills and preparing for the future.

Speakers:

  • John Blackburn AO - Chairman of the Institute for Integrated Economic Research - Australia
  • Rita Arrigo - Industry Digital Strategist at Microsoft, AI Ambassador, Design Thinker, Microsoft
  • Sally-Ann Williams - CEO, Cicada Innovations

Moderated by Jordan Green - Victorian State Chairman and National Executive Committee Member of the Pearcey Foundation
