Join Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation CEO Rodney Carter as he discusses two exciting projects helping to achieve Goal Four of the Dhelkunya Dja Country Plan: Bushtucker and Medicine. The innovative projects centre on Buwatj (Kangaroo Grass), Giranul and Wirrap (Aquaculture) and explore the creativity of using Traditional Owner knowledge in a modern systems context.

The work of the Dja Dja Wurrung in these innovative native food projects is one exciting example of the creative initiatives happening in our city and region of Gastronomy – recognised by the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in 2019. Bendigo is Australia’s first City and region of Gastronomy  and work focuses on all things food and beverages, built around four pillars: First Nations’ culture and heritage, creativity and innovation, health and wellbeing, and sustainability in a changing climate.

Please note this video was recorded as part of 2020BIIF.

The Bendigo Invention + Innovation Festival will return in 2022 with a new name to celebrate and promote local innovation, nurture great ideas and bring world-class innovation thought leaders to Bendigo. Look out for the same, fantastic event aptly titled the ‘Bendigo Innovation Festival’ @ bendigoinnovationfestival.com.au
