NFPtech Series: Building digital skills in the community sector

Digital capability has never been more critical to the success and continued provision of community services. The pandemic and associated restrictions amplified the technology challenges faced by not-for-profit organisations (NFPs). According to the Digital Technology in the Not-for-Profit Sector 2020 report, 97 per cent of NFPs reported that they had changed how they delivered services, and 48 per cent indicated that they needed affordable and accessible digital skills training for their staff. NFPs also recognise that funding bodies and supporters need data showing how their contributions make a difference.

The NFP Tech webinar series addressed these needs through a program developed for the Victorian Government's Digital Innovation Futures initiative. Webinar participants with basic-to-intermediate knowledge, received practical advice and training in service innovation, online business and service outcome measurement for the not-for-profit sector. With 46 per cent of NFPs actively monitoring data and cyber security, the DIF2021 webinars provided a specific cyber security session for NFPs.
