RMIT Cyber Series: What's Next in Cyber Security?

Inaugural Cyber Security HDR Conference; a 3-day conference for our cyber students studying their Masters and PhD. To cap off the first day, we brought in some of the best minds in cyber to discuss What's Next in the field.

Vaughan Shanks
Vaughan is the CEO of Cydarm Technologies, a company that is enabling cyber resilience through better and faster security operations. Previously, Vaughan worked as a software engineer in a range of Federal Government positions, and has a PhD in Computer Science from RMIT University.
 
 
Rachael Leighton

Rachael works in the Strategy and Influence team in the Operations Security and Enablement, Networks and IT at Telstra. She has a passion for human psychology and cyber culture uplift. With a creative and people-focused skill set, Rachael uses her creative approach combined with a deep understanding of cyber frameworks and standards to bridge the gap between the Board, senior executives, stakeholders and the security specialists, changing the way they think about cyber security whilst giving them the tools they need to make a difference. 

 

Gareth Chandler

Gareth is the ANZ director for Digital Shadows. Having been in IT sales for over 10 years, Gareth enjoys helping organisations of all sizes solve complex problems through technology.

Dr Arash Shaghaghi

Arash is a Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security at the College of Business & Law at RMIT University. Arash is also a Visiting Fellow at the School of Computer Science and Engineering of UNSW Sydney, Australia. Arash is a multi-award-winning cyber security educator and researcher with a track record of publications at competitive international conferences and journals. Arash currently serves as the Associate Editor for Journal of Ad Hoc Networks and has various roles (TPC, organising member, and reviewer) at prestigious Cyber Security journals and conferences.
