Launch of CIAIRI - The Centre for Industrial AI Research and Innovation

At CIAIRI - the RMIT Centre for Industrial AI Research & Innovation we are all about building our AI muscle through Research and Innovative Applications.

Making AI tools for today’s business needs is key to facilitating transformation in industry sectors including:

About the Panel

 

Rita Arrigo

A digital strategist able to communicate complex technical ideas across the “IT divide” to non-geek stakeholders, now as Deputy Director of CIAIRI, she is focused on industry engagement driven, capability in Autonomous Decision Systems, ML, Computer Vision and Mixed Reality. Previously at Microsoft as Chief Digital Advisor and Industry Digital Strategist working to enable new technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML)and Mixed Reality (MR) Digital Twin to sectors including transport, education, Smart Cities, Health, sustainable development and environmental stewardship. As a Design Thinker her passion for innovation was born in imagining an inclusive culture powered by data to drive new levels of human experiences.

 

John Thangarajah

As Professor and the Director of Research of CIAIRI (Center for Industrial AI Research & Innovation) he is am active researcher in the field of Intelligent Agent Systems, focused on Autonomous Systems Development, Agent Reasoning, Machine Learning techniques for autonomous entities and Human Machine Teaming, With over 20+ years in teaching technology, namely Java, C, C++, Computing Theory, Agent Oriented Programming, Games and Artificial Intelligence to undergraduate, postgraduate and industry personnel he is passionate about the introduction, enhancement and management of academic programs.

 

Jin Yu

With over 10 years of experience in data science including telco, retail, financial services, and government agencies, Jin is focused on implementation and operationalization of end-to-end advanced analytics and AI solutions to truly drive business transformation. With a Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence and a Ph.D. in Machine Learning. Her main research interests are in stochastic learning, optimization, and robust statistics for large-scale analytics problems and has led to multiple patents and peer-reviewed research papers in top international computer science journals and conference proceedings.

 

Izuhara Takero

With over 10 years experiences at IT industry including AI , Robotics and RPA, Izuhara San is based in Melbourne. His passion for the power of AI and IOT is key to the future thinking of ST Solutions in Australia. His work with robotics and Omotenashi, the deep-rooted Japanese culture, meaning to wholeheartedly look after guests, can be seen in many of the successful install of Pepper into retail, banks, hospitals and airports. Pepper uses Microsoft NLP for language translation and shows the collaborative nature of the future of AI tapping into many AI advancements by the industry.

 

Lida Ghahremanlou

I am an AI Specialist, Data Scientist and Cloud Architect, with 10-year experience in academia and industry in Australia and the UK. I work closely with customers and partners providing AI and Machine learning solutions, and support research institutes, NGOs and charities to empower AI for Accessibility and Responsible AI missions. I am a committed Team player, with strong verbal and communication skills and growing leadership potential. I am passionate in applying my skills and experience to real world problems faced by people with disability and from non-English backgrounds through thoughtful design, implementation and evaluation of AI technologies. As a short fiction author and translator in English and Farsi (Persian), I am committed to find novel ways to connect cultures and experiences. My aspiration is to combine creative arts and storytelling with AI to create compelling and positive experiences for diverse audiences and users.

 

Dheeren Velu

As Tech-Savvy Business Leader specialised in Artificial Intelligence, Dheeren is focused on guiding large enterprises and organisations in adopting AI & Cognitive technologies to implement innovative and game-changing solutions. By setting up internal AI Competencies and enable strategy, design and lead future expansion across multiple industry verticals like Banking & Finance, Public Sector, Insurance, Education, Telco. & Healthcare
