Future proofing ourselves against AI is likely impossible. Here’s why:
👉 Humans have an alignment problem. This is why we have wars. This is a bigger problem than AI and human alignment. Humans are likely to use AI as a tool for selfish gain rather than for the betterment of all.
👉 Projecting more than 3-5 years out is difficult when change is not linear but exponential. The milestones of go to school, work, get married, have kids, retire may not apply when societal models change.
👉 For the first time in history we have a tool that is making decisions for us and acting as a gatekeeper. In the words of Yuval Noah Harari, author of Homo Deus, AI is deciding whether we get that job or whether we get a home loan.
However
I actually give a really positive take on AI in my keynote, and why I think it help us achieve prosperity.
But it’s good to play devil’s advocate.
This Digital Innovation Futures Victoria and ACS (Australian Computer Society) event by Karen Cohen and Sienna Tugendhaft has the BEST lineup of speakers.
