From August 23 to September 6, the Victorian Government sponsored DIF will bring together visitors from across the country and the world to collaborate, share ideas, network and learn new skills.
Celebrating technology and Victoria’s culture of innovation, the DIF seeks to improve the lives of all Victorians through the application of new knowledge, technologies and practices.

Digital technology is a major contributor to Victoria’s economy, with the ICT industry generating around $36.6 billion in revenue annually and employing more than 117,000 people.
In 2019, as technology and innovation have become vital to sectors like tourism, agriculture, sport, retail, health, energy, manufacturing, DIF has become more important than ever.
DIF explores what the future holds, for communities and businesses large and small. DIF builds thriving places for entrepreneurs to explore emerging technology, stimulates business transformation and promotes digital inclusion for all Victorians.
Our event partners host events all year round culminating with the annual festival which showcases the best of what the state has to offer. From cutting-edge conferences or hands-on workshops and meetups for startups in coworking spaces. There is something for everyone.
DIF is inclusive, with kid’s code clubs and digital literacy training for seniors in local libraries. DIF makes a difference, bringing together students, experts and people with lived experience of hardship to find solutions to everyday challenges.
DIF has grown rapidly since it started in 2016 with just 70 events. In 2018, more than 15,000 people attended more than 400 events across the state as part of the two-week festival.
At the centre of DIF is the national iAwards, hosted by the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA), recognising and rewarding excellence in Australian technology and innovation.
Returning events confirmed for DIF2019 include Binary Shift Gippsland, Churchill Club Tech Trends Debate, Coworking Summit, Digital AI Summit and the Pearcey Oration. New in 2019 is the ASTN Sports and Data Analytics Conference and Awards.
Now that DIF2019 is launched, there are many opportunities for people to be involved and shape this year’s festival program, with an open invitation to register interest via the DIF Online Events Hub www.dif.vic.gov.au.
